What Kids Learn:
EK Youth Fishing Homeschool program is designed for kids 5-12 years of age with any level of fishing experience. No experience needed as we love being a child's first exposure to what often becomes a life-long passion. Kids learn Kayak Fishing and safety, rod/reel selection, knot tying, bait rigging, hooking live bait, techniques on using live bait and lures (aka artificial baits), tackle, land fishing and techniques, casting, catching bait, using different equipment for fishing, navigation skills, species identification and targeting, and reeling in and catching fish with photos available by request for parents and kids to keep. Our goal is to teach kids life long fishing skills in a fun and safe environment. |

The EK Youth Fishing Homeschool Program is a hands-on, nature-based learning experience designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of fishing while fostering a deeper connection to the outdoors. Built specifically for homeschool families, the program combines science, environmental education, and practical outdoor skills into a fun and engaging format. Students learn the basics of fishing, including knot tying, baiting hooks, casting techniques, fish identification, and water safety. Lessons also cover ecology, conservation, and the importance of respecting natural habitats, giving students an understanding of how humans and aquatic life are connected within an ecosystem.
The program encourages curiosity, patience, and responsibility, helping children gain confidence as they practice new skills. Through guided instruction and supervised fishing sessions, students experience the excitement of catching fish while learning valuable life lessons in perseverance and teamwork. Each session blends academic concepts—such as biology, environmental science, and even elements of math—with practical, real-world applications that make learning both meaningful and memorable.
